19 Businesses and Organizations Recognized for "Green" Efforts

In celebration of Earth Day the Clear-Blue-Green Certification Committee of Greater Lafayette Commerce with the Go Greener Commission and the Wabash River Enhancement Corporation are recognizing nineteen businesses and organizations leading the way to a sustainable future. City of Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski congratulated his staff and their efforts in making City Hall more environmentally responsible, "With City Hall designated as Clear-Blue-Green certified we are proud to lead our community. From recycling and reducing waste to renovating offices using green and sustainable building practices following Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards we are moving in the right direction."

"The Clear-Blue-Green business certification program not only brings public recognition to local environmental management best practices, but also helps create a healthy community for all," states Lindsey Payne, a Master’s of Science student in the Ecological Sciences and Engineering Program at Purdue University and the chair of the Clear-Blue-Green Committee. She adds, "Being environmentally responsible is not only good for the community, but for the bottom line."
