YWCA Invites Women to ‘On Our Own’ Support Group

Women of any age who are divorced, widowed, or on their own after the end of a long-term relationship are invited to join the YWCA’s new “On Our Own” Support Group. The group will meet 6:00-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, February 2-March 9, in the YWCA 604 Training Room at 604 N. 6th Street, Lafayette. The format will include practical information you can apply on a daily basis, in addition to discussion and support. Topics will include coping with loss, finances, self-esteem, redefining identity, cooking for one, and more. The group facilitator will be Beth Goodman, the owner of Effective Connections. She is an experienced professional life coach, trainer, meeting facilitator and counselor. She holds a master’s degree in career development and community counseling and a bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology and women’s studies. In order to foster a sense of community and receive maximum benefit from the process, participants are strongly encouraged to attend all six support group sessions. There is no charge to participate in this group, but those interested in participating must register by January 28. Call 765-742-0075. Find additional information at www.ywca.org/lafayette/support.
